Due to its proximity to Rome Ciampino (LIRA) and the Tiber river, strict arrival and departure procedures apply.
Tower responsibility: All traffic within the ATZ, from ground to 1500 ft AMSL.
The ATZ is surrounded by Rome CTR 4 and TMA, which extends from 2000 ft to FL125.
Airspace around LIRU is Class G.
Special VFR is not permitted.
¶ Runway Usage
Runway 34 is preferred for takeoffs and landings, weather and traffic permitting.
¶ VFR Flights
- Pattern work is conducted on the western traffic pattern of the airfield, while arriving aircraft remain on the eastern side of the aerodrome.
- All traffic circuits are flown at 1000 ft AGL (~1050 ft AMSL).

¶ Departures
- Departures usually report one of the exit VRPs at max 1500 ft.
- When RWY16 is in use, aircraft reporting Le Cave (RUN2) must remain clear of the traffic pattern.
¶ VFR Arrivals
- Contact Urbe Tower well before entering the ATZ, preferably:
- North: Approaching Monterotondo or La Storta
- South: Approaching Colleverde
- Remain at or below 1500 ft AMSL and expect instructions to:
- Join downwind, base, straight-in final, or upwind
- Hold at a visual reference if traffic requires
Upwind for RWY16 is standard to keep arriving traffic clear of the pattern by overflying the old VRP Porta di Roma.
Entry into the ATZ without prior contact is prohibited.
¶ IFR Departures
- Aircraft outbound on a Z FPLN:
- Plans IFR pickup at KASCI waypoint at 3000ft (AIP LIRU AD2)
- To avoid delays, flies the departure leg mantaining VFR to then pickup over an airway fix i.e. (TIBER, GIKIN, OKUNO, ATRUP, ALAXI, etc…)

¶ IFR Arrivals
- Aircraft inbound on a Y FPLN:
- Cancels IFR at TIBER waypoint and continues VFR
- Or at LOCRI waypoint (IAF ILS 15 LIRA), Rome Radar coordinates orbit west of the field until reaching 1000 ft, then join downwind.
¶ Taxi
- Controllers typically do not assign parking stands.
- Taxi routing is given to:
- Apron North
- Apron South
- Hangars

Marina di Campo Airport (LIRJ) is a unique airfield due to its challenging terrain environment and proximity to obstacles. Surrounded by hills and coastline, the airport requires strict adherence to procedures, particularly in terms of runway use.
¶ Runway Usage
Runway 34 is preferred for landings, and Runway 16 for takeoffs, provided the tailwind does not exceed 5 kt or when requested by pilots.

Due to nearby obstacles and mixed operations (gliders, towing, ULM), strict arrival and circuit procedures apply.
AFIS responsibility: All traffic within the ATZ, from ground to 2500 ft AGL (~3800 ft AMSL).
Overflight below 3800 ft AMSL (2500 ft AGL) is prohibited.
The chimney (262 ft AAL, 1300 m before THR 34L) must not be overflown below 1200 ft AGL.
¶ Runway Usage

Main RWY: 16R/34L
- Usable for civil ACFT ≤ 2 t AUW.
- Towing ACFT always take off from RWY 34L.
- With headwind ≥ 8 kt, takeoff from RWY 16R permitted (left turn after T/O mandatory).
- All engine ACFT must use 16R/34L.

Secondary RWY: 16L/34R
- Glider landings only.
Simultaneous use of both RWYs is prohibited.
¶ VFR Flights
- Contact Rieti AFIS in advance before entering the ATZ for information on local restrictions.
- Engine ACFT (including towing):
- Circuits west of RWY 16R/34L.
- RWY 16R: Right-hand circuit.
- RWY 34L: Left-hand circuit.
- Gliders:
- Circuits east of RWY 16L/34R.
- RWY 16L: Left-hand circuit.
- RWY 34R: Right-hand circuit.
Engine ACFT local activities west of AD only.
Gliders soaring east of AD only.
¶ Tow Operations
- Tow release: East side of AD, between:
- North: Rivodutri (built-up area)
- South: S. Giovanni Reatino (built-up area)
- After release:
- Tow ACFT rejoins main circuit for landing.
- Gliders may continue soaring east of AD.
¶ Special Activities
- Box Acro (Rieti Aerobatic Training Area):
- When active, traffic west of AD is prohibited.
