While Venezia does not have standard taxi routings, aircraft are expected to follow a very specific traffic flow.
The ground controller shall aim at directing the departing aircraft onto runway 04L / 22R via the shortest or most practicable route available, this would be:
For arriving aircraft the flow is slightly different, the tower controller will make the hand offs at these positions:
From these positions the ground controller shall direct the aircraft to the appropriate stands.
Runway 04L / 22R is referred to as taxiway T. Since many pilots find it difficult to read the chart properly the following phraseology may help when giving taxi instructions
Taxi to holding point A, runway 04R via M, W1 and runway 22R
The ground controller shall always assign holding point A for RWY 04R, holding point B or intermediate HP T1 may be assigned if requested by the tower controller
Polizia di Stato, Vigili del Fuoco and Guardia di Finanza helicopters parked at the respective helicopter stands (marked on the SMR) are expected to contact tower directly and they are allowed to take-off from the taxiway. Appropriate coordination shall be made to prevent collisions between taxiing aircraft and departing helicopters.
