Torino Tower is responsible for all the traffic within the ATZ, from ground to 3000 ft. To the north, east and south the ATZ is protected by the Torino CTR (GND-3500 ft) and by the Milano CTA which extends from 2500 ft to the north and from 3500 ft to the east and south. West of the airport the airspace is class G. Within the CTR is Torino Aeritalia Airport (LIMA), an uncontrolled aerodrome with strict pattern rules as to not interfere with Torino instrumental arrivals.
Runway 36 is preferred for takeoffs and landings up to 7 kts of tailwind.
The traffic pattern is right for runway 36 and left for runway 18
Handoff: Departures shall be handed off to the appropriate sector as soon as practicable.
Spacing: Departures shall be separated by 5 NM or wake turbulence separation, whichever is greater. In case of consecutive aircraft on the same departure route WTC + 1 minute separation is recommended.
The minimum radar separation between arrivals is 10 NM. If no departures are to be inserted between arrivals, the separation can be reduced to 5 NM + WTC Separation.
In case of missed approach Torino Tower shall inform Milano immediately and hand over the misap tag.
After a go-around the next departure is always held for release unless otherwise coordinated with the sector above.
The VRPs relevant to the tower position are:
NAME | CODE |
---|---|
Volpiano | MFE1 |
Fiano | MFW1 |
Chivasso | MFE2 |
Rondissone | MFE3 |
Candia Canavese | MFNE1 |
Cuorgnè | MFN1 |
CTR | MFNW2 |
Lanzo Torinese | MFNW1 |
VFR flights departing LIMF shall be instructed to turn to the assigned exit VRP after departure, these can be:
Aircraft leaving via MFW1 in G airspace shall be handed over to Milano Information while aircraft leaving via MFE1 shall be handed over to Milano Radar (LIMF_APP).
Use proper coordination with Milano Radar in case of VFR aircraft leaving the CTR, the tower controller shall retrieve the full routing leaving the CTR and forward it to LIMF_APP.
VFR Arrivals coming from the east will be handed over by Milano between MFE2 and MFE1, from MFE1 tower shall instruct aircraft to join the traffic pattern. In case of delays tower shall inform Milano Radar who will instruct aircraft to orbit over MFE2.
Arrivals from the west will be handed over by the FIC over MFW1.
Landing and takeoff of helicopters is only allowed from the runway.
